  Explorer

On the second notebook page of the Editor, you'll find the Explorer.
The Explorer can browse many different types of datasoures and provides a clipboard to copy and paste content between some of them. Any data source can copy to and paste from the filesystem.
The default action (double clicking / pressing Enter) of a Node is to open in the Editor.

Catalog nodes (usually bold in the Explorer's tree) are read from the Explorer.*.cfg file, but can be maintained at runtime in the GUI. To edit these, select the bold node in the tree ctrl to get the list of defined entries in the list ctrl.

To create new Catalog definitions, right-click and select New A new item should appear in the list ready to be renamed. Also it's properties will open up in the Inspector.

To edit the properties of an existing item, right-click on it and choose Inspect (or click it on the toolbar). The settable properties of the node will appear in the Inspector. Changes will be saved to Explorer.*.cfg. This is how all the different explorers listed below are configured.

Explorer nodes in the root of the Explorer tree.
Editor This node shows all the open items in the IDE. Here you may change the order of open items.
This is also a good place to close many files in one operation. Do a multi-select and click Close.
Recent Files A persistent list of recently opened files.
Bookmarks Place for frequently visited source code directories.
Define the current projects that you are working on in here.
Many Explorer node types can be bookmarked.

To group together your bookmarks, you may define a bookmark folder by adding a new item, inspecting it and changing it's Item property to {}. After refreshing the list, the icon for your new folder should be a Bookmarks Folder.

Transports Different protocol plug-ins to browse load and save. See table below for supported protocols/systems.
sys.path Lists the directories in sys.path
os.cwd The current working directory of the process.

This can be changed under the Explorer's Preferences or by right clicking from the Filesystem transport's menu.

Preferences Preference management. Most preference items are activated by double clicking on the item.

Plug-in configuration.

The following protocols have been implemented as Transports:
Filesystem This includes your and other network drives accessible through your filesystem. On windows specify a valid UNC path, e.g. //Machine for these network drives.
If the module opened in the Explorer is also listed in a Application (wxApp module) open in the Editor, the module will be opened as an application module (F9 will run the application).
Zip archives Zip files in Filesystem Explorer can be browsed as read only directories. This will be read/write when support for 1.5.2 is stopped. Copying from a Zip archive to the Filesystem is allowed.
CVS CVS browsing and operations are supported.
Zope A management interface and document editing support for Zope.
SSH Files can be browsed or copied and pasted between your filesystem and a SSH connection and can also be opened and saved in the Editor.
SSH and SCP have to be installed and working.
FTP Files can be browsed or copied and pasted between your filesystem and a FTP connection and can also be opened and saved in the Editor.
WebDAV (incomplete implementation) Files can be browsed, copied and pasted between your filesystem and a WebDAV server and can also be opened and saved in the Editor.
Properties can be read in the inspector, but not yet edited.
