cReactor: fast reactor core written in C STATUS: unmaintained, causes build problems, doesn't actually work. Actually, the TCP server pieces probably work. Much of the test suite fails because it does not offer all the functionality of the other reactors: client support, UNIX sockets, UDP, and probably others. It needs to be redesigned and rewritten. This module used to live in twisted/internet/cReactor/ with the following files at the following old revisions: .cvsignore 1.1 Up-to-date cDelayedCall.c 1.3 Up-to-date cReactor.c 1.14 Up-to-date cReactor.h 1.12 Up-to-date cReactorBuffer.c 1.2 Up-to-date cReactorModule.c 1.4 Up-to-date cReactorTCP.c 1.10 Up-to-date cReactorThread.c 1.3 Up-to-date cReactorTime.c 1.5 Up-to-date cReactorTransport.c 1.3 Up-to-date cReactorUtil.c 1.5 Up-to-date cSystemEvent.c 1.3 Up-to-date To compile it, the following clause was present in setup.py (v1.147), in the _detect_modules() method: # The C reactor # if python has poll support, no doubt OS supports try: import select except: select = None try: import thread except: thread = None if hasattr(select, "poll") and thread and not sys.platform=='darwin': exts.append( Extension("twisted.internet.cReactor", [ "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactorModule.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactor.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactorTime.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactorTCP.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactorTransport.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactorBuffer.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactorUtil.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cReactorThread.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cDelayedCall.c", "twisted/internet/cReactor/cSystemEvent.c", ], define_macros=define_macros) ) else: self.announce("The C reactor is unavailable on this system (this is fine, don't worry about it, everything will still work).")
