To install perdition 
--------------------

tar zxf perdition-@VERSION@.tar.gz
cd perdition-@VERSION@
./configure --enable-static [--prefix=/usr]
make
make install


To build RPMS
-------------

rpmbuild -ta perdition-@VERSION@.tar.gz

or

tar zxf perdition-@VERSION@.tar.gz
cd perdition-@VERSION@
./configure --enable-static --prefix=/usr
make distcheck
rpmbuild -ta perdition-@VERSION@.tar.gz

N.B: If you have an older version of rpm you may need to use
     the "rpm" command instead of "rpmbuild". The command line
     options should be the same.


To build Debian Packages
------------------------

tar zxf perdition-@VERSION@.tar.gz
cd perdition-@VERSION@
dpkg-build -rfakeroot [-us] [-uc]

You will need to create a popmap and decide on your invocation method.

To install on Solaris and Free BSD
----------------------------------

You may need to set some envirnoment variables to aid the build process.
You may also need to use gmake instead of make to use the
Makefiles that are generated by automake.

Bourne Shell

CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/include/"
export CPPFLAGS
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib/"
export LDFLAGS

tar zxf perdition-@VERSION@.tar.gz
cd perdition-@VERSION@
./configure --enable-static [--prefix=/usr]
gmake
gmake install

C Shell

env CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/include" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib" \
