Introduction

  • Requirements
    1. Python 2.2. A nice scripty language distributed with most Linux distributions.
    2. GTK+ 2.0. The free GUI widget library thingy that the Gnome desktop uses.
    3. PyGTK 2.0 Python-GTK bindings for GTK 2.0
Pyne has been tested on Linux, but should work under other unixes too. Perhaps when threading works in Windows PyGTK it will be ported to Windows also.

  • Installation
  • If you are reading this then you probably know how to extract the contents of the Pyne tarball. Latest versions can be found at the Pyne Homepage. As root type make && make install while in the Pyne source directory to install it, and make uninstall to remove it again.

Debian packages exist, but you'll have to look around for yourself.

  • Running Pyne
  • Well... typing pyne at a bash prompt generally does the trick, but perhaps you want to know about the command line switches:

    Usage: pyne [OPTION]... [HOME]...

    -h, --help Prints this...
-f, --force Forces startup after another glorious crash.

Home may be an alternative pyne user data location, which defaults to ~/.pyne.
